The CUHK LAW Greater China Legal History Seminar Series aims to serve as a forum to discuss the historical development of a great variety of legal issues of interest in the Greater China region. The next seminar, "Civil Disputes in the Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-220 A.D.)", will be spoken online by Professor Zhaoyang ZHANG, Department of History, Shanghai Jiao Tong University on 4 November 2022.
How were civil matters handled in ancient China? Analysing intriguing cases of disputes over inheritance and debt taking place in the Han Dynasty, this seminar discusses the functions of the civil justice system of early China in the light of recently excavated legal materials.
