School of Continuing and Professional Studies: Reading Shakespeare from scratch


Programme details

This course is designed for participants who are interested in exploring the plays of William Shakespeare, not only for greater understanding and enjoyment but also for improving their use of English.
After an overall view of the theatres and plays of William Shakespeare, participants will be guided through the reading of three of Shakespeare’s plays: The Merchant of Venice, Julius Caesar, and Macbeth.
Participants are expected to learn about the times and peculiarities of Shakespeare’s theatre, participate in play-reading and role-playing activities, learn some of the intricacies of the best English, and even have fun in this course.
