Open Books Hong Kong: Promoting Knowledge Sharing and Creating an Equitable Ecosystem

The Open Books Hong Kong pilot project is a collaborative initiative by the libraries and publishers of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, and The University of Hong Kong. As Hong Kong's first open access book program, it aims to promote academic achievements and foster a healthy and equitable knowledge dissemination ecosystem.

Since its launch on July 17, 2024, the Chinese books published by the three university presses have been well received by readers. These books are freely accessible to the public for reading, downloading, and sharing, covering various fields in the humanities and social sciences, including history, philosophy, religion, law, anthropology, and gender studies. The fourth batch of books is now officially available to the public.
